How do I pay my escrow shortage?

Paying towards your escrow shortage is like making your monthly payment. See also: How do I make my mortgage payment using digital banking?

You can pay using any checking account opened within the United States. Please note, if you'd like to pay using a checking account that's not on file, you'll need to add it to digital banking first. Review the steps in the "Add a payment account" section below to find out how.

To make a payment to your escrow account using digital banking

For those who have multiple accounts with U.S. Bank (e.g., you have a checking account and a mortgage), follow these steps.

  1. Online banking: Select Transfer & pay, then choose Pay bills.
    U.S. Bank Mobile App: Select Pay bills & transfer, then choose Pay a bill.
  2. Select your mortgage account, then choose Escrow amount and enter how much you want to pay.
  3. Use the drop-down menu to choose which account you'd like to pay from.
  4. Change the payment date, if desired.
  5. When ready, select Review & pay.

For those who have only a mortgage loan with U.S. Bank (i.e., no other accounts), follow these steps.

  1. Select your mortgage account from the dashboard and choose View, pay & manage.
  2. Online banking: Choose Payment at the top of the page.
    U.S. Bank Mobile App: Open the main menu (three vertical dots), then choose Payment.
  3. Choose Other payment (found below the amount due) and enter how much you want to pay in the Additional Escrow field.
  4. Use the drop-down menu to choose which account you'd like to pay from.
  5. Change the payment date, if desired.
  6. When ready, select Submit payment.
