ACCOUNT AGGREGATION FAQ

Find answers to some of the most common questions about account aggregation.

At U.S. Bancorp®, we believe that you control your financial data and should be able to safely share your account information with whomever you choose. We will only share your information in accordance with our Privacy Pledge or as directed by you. This FAQ provides information you should know before choosing to share your financial data with third parties.

We understand that customers may wish to use financial management tools and services offered by third parties. With your authorization, these third parties (and their respective service providers) can collect your financial data. This is known as account aggregation.

You will need to work with the third party directly to enable them to receive your financial data. During enrollment with a third-party service, you should be redirected to a U.S. Bank login screen where you are prompted to enter your personal ID and password. Authenticating your identity directly with us allows you to share your account information without disclosing your login credentials. Ensure that the URL in the web browser is https://www.usbank.com and that the trusted website lock icon is displayed. Click the lock icon to see that it is registered to usbank.com.

Be aware, some companies may ask you to share your login credentials so that they can use software to log in as you and collect your financial data from our website. We discourage sharing your login credentials with third parties. Anyone with your login credentials has full access to our online services — including the ability to initiate transactions.

Any data you share with a third party will be governed by the third party's privacy and data retention policies. We recommend reviewing those policies before sharing your data to understand how the third party will use and store your account information.

Any use of a third-party site is at your own risk. We only control the secure delivery of data to your designated third parties. We are not responsible for the disclosure or use of your financial data by the third party. If you decide to share your login credentials with a third party, you are responsible for the use of your account by the third party.

You can manage your sharing preferences on the My Controls tab within your U.S. Bank online or mobile session. You will see a list of third parties that have access to your financial data through the secure connection. In most cases, you will see a list of the specific data elements that you are sharing. If you revoke access, the third party will no longer have ongoing access to your account information through the secure connection. However, they may still be able to retain and use the data that you previously shared.

Many third parties use service providers to assist in collecting your account information from the various financial institutions. To ensure that you have a clear understanding of who you have authorized to receive your account information, we provide the name of the third party and the service provider it uses to collect your data.

No. If you have provided a third party with your login credentials to collect your account information, that company will not appear on the list. You will need to work directly with the third party to manage your sharing preferences. Or, you could reset your password to block such third-party access to your account.

If you revoke access by mistake or change your mind later, you may re-enable access by visiting the third-party website or app in which you previously shared your data.

Third party account sharing allows you to designate someone to access your accounts as a delegate for the purpose of sharing data with another third party. For example, an accountant, using an online accounting application, may wish to use your tax or other account data and access the data in that application and will share that account data to that application. The level of access for the third party you designate is view only. Third parties only have access to accounts you designate within your account entitlements for account sharing. As always, you maintain full control over data shared by your third party delegate in MyControls. Third parties you designate do not have access to MyControls.
