KNOWLEDGE BASE

What is the cutoff time for payments made to my credit card?

Payments made before our cutoff time will show the effective date as the current business day. For example, if you're payment is made today before our cutoff time, the transaction date will also be today.

The cutoff time depends on if you're using a U.S. Bank checking/savings account to make your payment.

  • U.S. Bank checking/savings: Effective as of the current business day if made before:
    • Business day: 6 p.m. local time*
    • Non-business day: 8 p.m. CT
  • Non-U.S. Bank checking/savings: Effective as of the current business day if made before:
    • Business and non-business days: 7 p.m. CT

*Local time refers to the time zone in which the payment account was opened.

Please be aware if you're in a different time zone than where your account was opened, this will affect your cutoff time. For example, you're in Minneapolis and need to make your credit card payment. You want to use your checking account opened in Seattle. Based on this information, the cutoff time is based on PT, not CT where you're at.
