Why was the provisional credit reversed on my credit or debit card?

There’re several reasons why a provisional credit may be reversed. This includes, but isn’t limited to:

  • The merchant involved issues a refund.
  • The account owner has asked us to cancel the claim.
  • We’re notified by the account owner the transaction is recognized, and it is valid.
  • Our investigation of the claim determines the transaction is valid.

Debit cards: We issue provisional credit to allow the use of the funds in question while we research.

Credit cards: We issue provisional credit, so you don’t have to make a payment on the disputed amount while we conduct our research.
