When can I choose cash back categories for my Cash Plus or Shopper Cash credit card?
Choosing your bonus categories each quarter lets you earn the most rewards for your purchases. Categories can be chosen up to 45 calendar days before each quarter begins. Selections may be changed up to five calendar days before the quarter begins.
Here’s a breakdown by quarter of when to choose and register your bonus categories:

- If categories aren’t selected at all during a quarter, rewards will be earned at the base rate.
- U.S. Bank Cash+® Visa Signature® Card earns a base rate of 1%.
- U.S. Bank Shopper Cash Rewards® Visa Signature® Card earns a base rate of 1.5%.
- If categories are chosen after the quarterly selection time ends (see table above):
- Bonus earnings are not retroactive.
- It’ll take three business days for bonus earnings to become effective.
- Selections are locked in and cannot be changed.
- Authorized users can’t choose categories; only an owner or joint owner is allowed to select them.
- Categories activated for a quarter won't reactivate for the next quarter if none are selected.
