When is my branch or ATM deposit available?

Deposits made at a branch or U.S. Bank ATM are typically available the next business day. Please be aware we don't accept deposits at non-U.S. Bank ATMs. The first $225 of checks and all cash are available immediately. The remainder becomes available after the system updates with that day's business, as follows:

  • Monday through Friday (except federal holidays): Deposits are processed on the same day's business when made before the branch's cut-off time*. For example, if your check deposit is made at 10 a.m. on Wednesday (business day), the remainder becomes available on Thursday.
  • After branch cut-off time*: Deposits are processed on the next day's business when made after the cut-off time*, regardless of the weekday. For example, if you made the deposit after the cut-off time* on Monday, the remainder becomes available on Wednesday.
  • Saturday and Sunday: Weekend deposits are processed on the next day's business as Saturday's and Sunday's are considered part of Monday's business. For example, when the deposit is made on Saturday, the remainder becomes available on Tuesday.
  • Federal Holidays: If the deposit is made on a federal holiday that falls on a week-day, it's considered part of the next day's business. For example, if your deposit is made on Wednesday (federal holiday), it's considered part of Thursday's business. In this case, the remainder becomes available on Friday.

*Cut-off times vary from branch to branch and may be as early as 2 p.m. (local time). If a deposit is made after 8 p.m. (local time) or when we're closed (e.g., U.S. Bank ATM deposit), we will consider the deposit to be made on the next business day we are open.
