KNOWLEDGE BASE

Why was my mobile check deposit declined?

A mobile check deposit can show approved in your mobile check deposit history and later be rejected during processing. This happens when we attempt to collect the funds but can’t do so. If this happens, the rejected reason is available on digital banking by selecting the deposit from the account overview. Examples include, but aren't limited to:

  • Refer to maker: This means the financial institution that issued the check has declined to pay for it. You’ll need to contact that financial institution for a more detailed explanation.
  • Insufficient funds: The issuer of the check said the account doesn’t have enough funds.
  • Stop payment: There’s a stop payment blocking the check from being honored.

The status of your mobile check deposit is available on our mobile app.
