More top rankings for the U.S. Bank Mobile App

December 20, 2021

The Insider Intelligence accolades follow a slew of honors for the bank in 2021.

The U.S. Bank Mobile App continues to add top accolades to its impressive collection.

The latest come from Insider Intelligence, which ranks it No. 1 for both Alerts and Account Management categories and No. 2 overall in its annual US Mobile Banking Emerging Features Benchmark.

This recognition comes at a time when customers need – and expect – high-end functionality from their mobile banking apps more than ever. Insider Intelligence found that “of the adult mobile banking users we surveyed in the US, 87% said that mobile is their primary banking channel.”

The annual scorecard not only measures the functionality of mobile banking apps, but weights their scores according to how much these customers say they value those features. Account Management and Alerts are two of the top three categories most-valued by these customers.

These latest accolades come immediately following Forrester recognizing the U.S. Bank Mobile App as a leader in user experience, as well as a No. 1 overall ranking in Keynova Group's Q3 2021 Mobile Banker Scorecard. In the past year, the bank’s mobile app has also been recognized as No. 1 for both mobile check deposit as well as digital mortgage tools – not to mention its more than a million five-star customer reviews in the app stores.

“From industry analysts to customers themselves, we continue to hear how well our digital tools are helping our customers bank where, when, and how they want,” said Dominic Venturo, chief digital officer at U.S. Bank. “Our best-in-class experiences not only offer a host of features and functionality but we create them so they are easy to navigate, simple and intuitive. And then we pair these excellent digital experiences with the expertise of our incredible people – a human plus digital approach that our customers love.”

The U.S. Bank Mobile App offers things like cobrowse with video and virtual appointments, Smart Assistant and more, including smart budgeting and savings tools such as Pay Yourself First that help customers set and reach their goals, as well as serving up more than two billion personalized insights, which proactively give guidance and alerts to assist customers in their financial health. The bank added more than 140 new features to the app in 2021 – with more being added every month.

This fifth annual study stacks up 23 financial institutions against one another, evaluating their mobile app capabilities based on consumers’ demand for 42 emerging features across six categories.

In addition to the No. 1 rankings, U.S. Bank was also highlighted as a UX Best Practice in five different categories, including:

  • Alerts: U.S. Bank enables users to toggle on or off different types of notifications and specify the accounts for which they want to receive notifications.
  •  Account Management: U.S. Bank enables customers to shop for additional checking accounts and other products in-app.
  • Transfers: U.S. Bank Smart Assistant can initiate Zelle transactions.
  • Digital Money Management: U.S. Bank allows users to aggregate external accounts and show them on the accounts screen.
  • Customer Service: U.S. Bank Smart Assistant can hand off users to live chat.
