Doctors, dentists and veterinarians spend years mastering their clinical skills through rigorous training and residencies. But when it’s time to open a private practice, medical expertise alone isn’t enough.

“A lot of doctors come out of school with massive student debt - $400,000 to $500,000 isn’t unusual,” said Jeramie Eimers, a business development officer at U.S. Bank.

That unique situation is where Eimers comes in. He specializes in helping healthcare professionals turn their dreams of practice ownership into reality. He works with small to midsize medical, dental and veterinary providers to secure the financing they need to launch, expand or transition their businesses.

“We offer 100% financing, including working capital, because we understand the long-term earning potential and low default rate in this field,” Eimers said. “We know what to look for.”

Eimers joined U.S. Bank straight out of college, starting in the healthcare leasing division. There, he helped develop equipment financing programs in partnership with major medical vendors and direct lending to dental practices.

In 2023, the bank launched a dedicated healthcare banking initiative to serve providers with up to $50 million. Since then, the division has expanded to more than 110 employees and supports practitioners nationwide.

“When we at U.S. Bank talk about delivering the personal touch of specialized healthcare bankers, Jeramie is the perfect example,” said Joe Persichetti, head of Healthcare Business Banking at U.S. Bank. “He understands the needs of small-to-midsize healthcare practices and is focused on delivering the best possible experience for our clients.”

“Helping someone buy their first practice is just the beginning. They come back for expansion loans, refer their classmates, and even refer buyers when they’re ready to sell. You’re there for every chapter of their professional journey.”

In addition to his role at the bank, Eimers is a master sergeant in the Air National Guard based in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He first enlisted in the Army National Guard at 17, drawn by the college benefits, and served for 14 years, including helping rebuild Humvee engines in Germany to support troops in the middle east. He then took a break to focus on raising his family and banking career,  and in 2020 decided to re-enlist in the Air National Guard in the unit’s finance division.

“I wanted to finish what I started, serve as a mentor, and give back in a meaningful way,” he said.

His military schedule is demanding – he averages more than 60 days a year in training – but the flexibility of his job at U.S. Bank allows him to manage both roles.

“The bank has been so supportive, and doctors appreciate that I’m available on evenings, weekends, whenever they need me,” he said.

Dr. Matthew Do, a dentist in Monterey, California, has worked with Eimers for some 25 years on 10 different transactions.

“After nearly 25 years of consistent support, I can confidently say Jeramie has been instrumental to my professional success – whether it’s ground-up development, acquisition or sale of a practice,” he said. “Jeramie’s biggest strength is his ability to listen. He takes the time to understand a situation thoroughly, then uses his resources to structure solutions for both buyers and sellers.”

Do said even the buyers of his former offices have ended up working with Eimers. Do’s brother, who is also a dentist, has purchased and sold practices with help from Eimers.

“I would never introduce anyone to my family unless I absolutely trusted them, and Jeramie is absolutely someone I trust,” he said.

Do’s experience of working with Eimers throughout the span of their practice career isn’t unusual.

“Helping someone buy their first practice is just the beginning,” Eimers said. “They come back for expansion loans, refer their classmates, and even refer buyers when they’re ready to sell. You’re there for every chapter of their professional journey.”

Eimers sees himself not just as a lender but as a connector, emphasizing the importance of doctors building a strong team of trusted advisors – from accountants to attorneys to consultants who know the healthcare industry – so they can focus on patient care.

Eimers, a lifelong wrestler and former college athlete, also serves on the board of the Tea Titans youth wrestling program – a nonprofit he helped grow from 15 kids to more than140 participants today.

‘I just want to help other people succeed,’ Eimers said. “Whether they’re doctors starting a practice, kids learning to wrestle or new airmen finding their path. If I can be part of that journey, then I’m doing something right.”
