Cash back is earned on Net Purchases (purchases minus credits and returns).
Cardmember must enroll each quarter into categories of their choice, or all net purchases will earn no more than 1% cash back. Categories subject to change quarterly. Transactions qualify for 5% or 2% cash back based on how merchants classify the transaction. As U.S. Bank cannot control how merchants choose to classify transactions, U.S. Bank cannot guarantee a transaction will qualify. Net Purchases are purchases minus credits and returns. For eligible Net Purchases less than or equal to $180,000, U.S. Bank FlexPerks Gold American Express Cardmembers will earn a “base” of 1 FlexPoint for every $1. If during the calendar year, Net Purchases exceed $180,000, the “base” of 1 FlexPoint for every $1 in Net Purchases for the rest of the year will be earned at a rate of 0.5 FlexPoint for every $1. You will earn 1 additional FlexPoint in addition to the base earn for every $1 in Net Purchases during each billing cycle for any merchant classified as a gas station and for any merchant classified as an airline.
