How do I make a principal-only or escrow payment to my mortgage?

Making a principal-only or escrow payment is as easy as making your regular monthly payment. You can pay using any checking account opened within the United States.

Please note, if you'd like to pay using a checking account that's not on file, you'll need to add it to mobile or online banking first. Review the steps in the "Add a payment account" section within our article How do I make my mortgage payment using digital banking? to find out how.

If you have multiple accounts with U.S. Bank, follow these steps.

  1. Select Transfer & pay, then choose Pay bills.
    Mobile users only: Select Pay bills & transfer, then choose Pay a bill.
  2. Locate your mortgage account and select an amount to pay towards your principal balance or escrow account.
  3. Use the drop-down menu to choose which account you'd like to pay from.
  4. Change the payment date, if desired.
  5. When ready, select Review & pay to submit the payment.

If you only have a mortgage with U.S. Bank, follow these steps.

  1. Select your mortgage account from the dashboard and choose View, pay & manage.
  2. Choose Payment at the top of the page.
    Mobile users only: Open the main menu first (three vertical dots), then choose "Payment".
  3. Choose Other payment to pay an additional amount towards your principal balance or escrow account.
  4. Use the drop-down menu to choose which account you'd like to pay from.
  5. Change the payment date, if desired
  6. When ready, select Submit payment.
