There are a couple things to consider before you stop an ACH payment or recurring debit transaction:
- Payments already in process or completed can't be stopped.
- To stop a scheduled payment, you'll need to submit the request at least three business days before the scheduled payment date.
Online banking
- Select Customer Service at the top of the page, then choose Self Service.
- Choose Stop payments within the Deposit Accounts & Debit/ATM Cards section.
- Select I used my debit card or account number, then select Continue.
- If you select "I used my bill pay at usbank.com", you'll be directed to the bill pay screen to cancel the payment.
- Verify the account used for the transaction is selected, then choose the merchant making the charge.
- If the merchant isn't listed, select Merchant not listed at the bottom.
- Choose the payment amount you'd like to stop, then select Continue.
- If there's a fee to stop the payment, the amount will show on the page.
- To stop a recurring debit transaction, choose to stop "all future payments".
- Review your information, then select Submit.
U.S. Bank Mobile App
- Select the deposit account used for the transaction, choose the Manage tab at the top, then select Stop payments.
- Choose I used my debit card or account number, then select Continue.
- If you select "I used my bill pay at usbank.com", you'll be directed to the bill pay screen to cancel the payment.
- Verify the account used for the transaction is selected, then choose the merchant making the charge.
- If the merchant isn't listed, select Merchant not listed at the bottom.
- Choose the payment amount you'd like to stop, then select Continue.
- If there's a fee to stop the payment, the amount will be displayed on the page.
- If you're stopping a recurring debit transaction, choose to stop "all future payments".
- Review your information, then select Submit.
