The fireside chat-styled events featuring bank leaders and TV host Egypt Sherrod will reach seven cities across the U.S.

U.S. Bank is bringing together local real estate agent communities and other partners on the homebuying journey to educate, inspire and create more pathways toward first-time homeownership through Access Home events.

Kicked off in late 2025, the Access Home events will reach a total of seven cities – Chicago, Cincinnati, Milwaukee, Los Angeles, Portland, Sacramento and San Diego. The events feature a fireside chat with Dr. Egypt Sherrod, an Emmy Award-nominated TV host and real estate expert, alongside U.S. Bank mortgage, wealth and small business leaders who support the bank’s broader Access Commitment work.

Showing the pathway

“Increasing access to homeownership is so important because that is the No. 1 way to create generational wealth,” Sherrod said. “Increasing access (to homeownership) means increasing programs, increasing education, and opening the door and showing the pathway so we can create a new chapter in real estate.”

One of U.S. Bank’s most popular resources for first-time homebuyers, the U.S. Bank American Dream mortgage, is available in 31 states and allows qualified buyers to put as little as 3% down and receive assistance funds of up to $10,000 to be used toward downpayment, closing costs or repairs.

U.S. Bank downpayment assistance programs

One of U.S. Bank’s most popular resources for first-time homebuyers, the U.S. Bank American Dream mortgage, is available in 31 states and allows qualified buyers to put as little as 3% down and receive assistance funds of up to $10,000 to be used toward downpayment, closing costs or repairs.

In 12 metro-areas, the U.S. Bank Access Home Loan is also available and provides up to a combined $17,500 in assistance funds for purchasing homes in select areas.

“The real estate agent community is critical to the work we are doing to expand access to homeownership,” said Sodi Nichols, head of national strategic markets and affordable lending at U.S. Bank. “The more education we can provide our partners on the many benefits and programs that help buyers overcome common obstacles to homeownership, the more people we can help achieve their dream of homeownership.”
