What is an external transfer?

External transfers are transfers of money between your U.S. Bank accounts and your accounts at other financial institutions.

  • For outbound transfers (from a U.S. Bank account to another financial institution), funds are typically available in the external account one business day after your transfer is processed.
  • For inbound transfers (from accounts from another financial institution to your U.S. Bank account), funds are typically available in your U.S. Bank account in three business days after your transfer is processed.
