Major branch reinvestment across Central Iowa reflects a long-term commitment to clients, small businesses and communities statewide

U.S. Bank is making one of its most significant investments in Iowa in recent years, opening two new branches and renovating 14 existing locations across greater Des Moines, Ames and Boone.

The new branches are in Grimes and Waukee, two of the fastest-growing communities in the region. The updates to existing branches are designed to create more welcoming, modern spaces for clients and employees.

Following completion of this work and the 2024 renovation of the Westown location in West Des Moines, every U.S. Bank branch in the Des Moines-area, Boone and Ames will have been newly built or reinvested in.

The new Grimes, Iowa, location opened in the summer of 2026. It is one of two new locations in the Des Moines area.

For Amy Anderson-Vali, U.S. Bank's market leader for Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa and South Dakota, the investment reflects both confidence in Iowa's future and the bank's deep roots in the state.

"This investment underscores U.S. Bank's longstanding commitment to Iowa and its continued focus on delivering modern, accessible banking experiences that help clients and communities thrive," said Anderson-Vali, who noted that U.S. Bank is one of the largest banks in Iowa by both branch count and deposit share.

Investing in growth where it matters most
The investment in Iowa is part of U.S. Bank's broader strategy to modernize its nationwide branch network while ensuring clients continue to have access to in-person expertise when making important financial decisions.

"Des Moines has been an important market for U.S. Bank for generations, and we're excited to continue investing in our branches and the communities we serve," said Bryan Campbell, district manager for U.S. Bank in Des Moines. "Our branches remain an important part of how we build relationships, provide advice and help clients achieve their financial goals."

While banking has become increasingly digital, U.S. Bank leaders say branch locations remain essential spaces where clients can receive guidance on buying a home, growing a business, planning for retirement and navigating other major life events.

"These investments allow us to deliver the best of both worlds – the convenience of industry-leading digital tools alongside modern branches where clients can receive expert guidance when it matters most," Anderson-Vali said.

A broader commitment to Iowa
The branch investments are just one visible example of U.S. Bank's longstanding commitment across Iowa.

Today, U.S. Bank serves more than 350,000 clients statewide, including 26,000 small business clients. The bank is also playing a leading role in supporting Iowa's entrepreneurs and small business community. As of July 2026, U.S. Bank ranks as Iowa’s top SBA lender for the year, with 49 approved SBA loans so far this year totaling $11.6 million.

Beyond banking services, U.S. Bank and the U.S. Bank Foundation continue to invest in communities across the state. Over the last few years, the company provided $3.9 million in corporate contributions and U.S. Bank Foundation grants to Iowa nonprofit organizations.  As part of the grand opening celebrations for the new Grimes location, the company also donated $9,000 to the Dallas Center-Grimes Education Foundation.

During that same period, U.S. Bank delivered more than $23 million in community development loans and investments benefiting low- and moderate-income communities in the state.

Building for the future
The Des Moines, Ames and Boone areas have long been a cornerstone of U.S. Bank's presence in Iowa. Following the complete renovation of the Westown location, the latest enhancements will continue transforming branches into community-centered spaces designed for collaboration, financial education and personalized advice.

"As our communities continue to grow, we want our branch network to grow and evolve alongside them," Campbell said. "Whether a client is opening their first account, financing a home, growing a business or planning for retirement, we want to ensure they have access to the people, expertise and resources they need close to home."
