U.S. Bank Driven to Serve Program started in 2018
U.S. Bank recently donated a car to Marine Corps Corporal Chad Ohmer, who was injured by an improved explosive device (IED) during his first deployment with the 3rd Battalion, 9th Marines in Afghanistan. He returned to complete the mission two weeks later.
After returning home, Ohmer was deployed again six months later to support Special Operations teams in highly active combat zones. In 2012, he was severely injured by a second IED blast while rushing to help a fallen corpsman, ultimately saving his own life by applying a tourniquet to his leg before evacuation.
Ohmer spent nine months recovering at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. He medically retired from the Marine Corps in 2015 and discovered a new passion in adaptive sports, joining the U.S. Paralympic Team and training in Aspen, Colorado, for five years.
The recent vehicle donation in Kansas City marks the 100th donated automobile to veterans by U.S. Bank since 2018. Check out the video linked above to see the donation event.
