U.S. Bank offers mobile check deposit on the U.S. Bank Mobile App, however, only U.S. dollar checks drawn from banks and institutions in the U.S. are accepted through this feature.
To deposit a check from Japan, you will use the Bank by Mail and send the check to U.S. Bank. You need to include a deposit slip with the check(s) that has the U.S. Bank account number on it where the check(s) should be deposited. If you do not have a deposit slip, you may reference the U.S. Bank account number where the check(s) should be deposited on the checks or in a separate note. If your mail deposit does not include the U.S. Bank account number where the check(s) should be deposited, the check(s) will be returned to you via mail.

Please contact Japanese Customer Service Unit to request a cashier’s check if a U.S. Bank branch is not available near your location. The cashier’s check will be delivered via regular U.S. Post Office mail to the address you provide to the Japanese Customer Service Unit. Overnight delivery by UPS request is available only if you or your company has a UPS account (a UPS account number is required). Your UPS account will be billed for the overnight delivery cost.
Cashier's Checks can only be made payable to the account owner(s) (Consumer accounts), or the business name (Business Accounts) on the account and will ONLY be sent to the mailing address you have on file for your account.

You can use ATM/Debit cards at any U.S. Bank ATM and PLUS system ATMs worldwide. Transactions processed outside the United States will incur an international processing fee (3% of the entire transaction). In addition, for non-U.S. Bank ATM transactions, you may get charged a Non-U.S. Bank ATM Transaction Fee.
Yes, for transactions at U.S. Bank ATMs, fees will be waived, unless the transaction is made outside of the U.S. in which case an international processing fee will apply. ATM transactions made at non-U.S. Bank ATMs may incur a fee. U.S. Bank has an expansive ATM network. For a full listing of U.S. Bank branches with ATM access, please visit usbank.com/locations.
The U.S. Bank Mobile App is available for download from the U.S. App Store. Your device must be connected to the U.S. App Store location in order to download the U.S. Bank Mobile App. If you do not have access to download the U.S. Bank Mobile App, you can still access your accounts online through U.S. Bank Online Banking at usbank.com.
New customers can enroll in mobile and online banking using the following options:
Customers with an international phone number, (a non-U.S. based phone number), can enroll their new U.S. Bank account in online banking using their preferred internet browser.
For customers with a U.S.-based phone number, enrollment can be completed through online banking or by downloading the U.S. Bank Mobile App.
Once you enroll in U.S. Bank mobile and online banking, you can begin using bill pay. Please note that a phone number and address in the U.S. are required in order to use bill pay.
If you want to change the physical/mailing address from/to internationally, it will be serviced only by phone. Please contact the Japanese Customer Service Unit.
You need to contact the Japanese Customer Service Unit to start the closing process. They will need to know if there are any outstanding transactions on your account that have not posted yet. You will also need to decide how you will want any remaining funds disbursed. There are three options for funds disbursement in which the Japanese Customer Service Unit can assist you with. You can choose to have a wire transfer completed, transfer the funds to another account at U.S. Bank in your name, or receive a cashiers check.
