There are different options to conduct a wire based on your relationship with U.S. Bank. Specifically, for our Global Transition Solutions customers, we offer the following options:
Branch – A customer can send a domestic or international wire by visiting the branch of their choosing and working directly with a banker.
Digitally – A customer can send a domestic wire (within the United States) through online banking or the mobile app. Sending an international wire digitally is not supported at this time.
Japanese Customer Service Unit (JCSU) – Exclusively for our Global Transition Solutions customers, a customer may call in and conduct both domestic and international wires with a banker over the phone. To do so, a customer must complete the enrollment steps listed above, based on whether or not the customer has a phone number based in the United States. The JCSU dedicated wires phone number is available Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific Time: 888-314-3490.
As a GTS client, you’ll get the first two incoming wire transfer fees waived per statement period (domestic or international).
After that, wire transfer fees can vary based on your Bank Smartly® Rewards Tier. Please refer to the Consumer Pricing Information (PDF) disclosure for more information on wire fees and tier benefits.
Note: Additional fees may be deducted from the wire transfer amount by other financial institutions involved in the wire transfer process.
JCSU Wire Transfer Requests may be submitted from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific Time. If submitted on a non-business day or after the following times, the wires will be sent on the following business day:
You may receive a callback from U.S. Bank for additional verification information prior to processing the wire.
Yes, U.S. Bank offers foreign currencies that can be sent as an international wire. Please contact a banker for a full list of available foreign currencies.
Yes, as long as you are physically located in the United States and near a U.S. Bank branch in order to pick up the foreign currency order. A foreign currency order can be placed in person in a branch as well as through online banking or the mobile app; however, all foreign currency orders must be picked up in person at a branch.
Customers who have had an account with U.S. Bank for at least 6 months can send domestic wires digitally – through online banking or the mobile app. By “domestic wire,” we mean a wire transfer from a U.S. Bank account to a recipient who also has an account in the United States.
International wires cannot be conducted digitally and must be initiated in person at a branch or, for U.S. Bank Global Transition Solutions customers only, by calling the Japanese Customer Service Unit (JCSU).
The sender will need the recipient’s name, address and bank account information (including the account number and bank routing number).
Yes, for customers with an international phone number (a non-U.S.-based phone number), it is highly recommended that you enroll in online banking before contacting the JCSU to set up your Entrust App and conduct your first wire transfer.
For customers with a U.S.-based phone number, it is also highly recommended that you enroll in either online banking or the mobile app before contacting the JSCU to conduct your first wire transfer.
No, only customers with international phone numbers (a non-U.S.-based phone number) need to utilize a soft token through the Entrust App in order to complete their wire transfer request. Before sending your first wire, it’s best to first enroll in U.S. Bank online banking (learn more about online banking). Then, please call the JCSU before downloading the Entrust App in order to ensure the application and soft tokens are correctly configured with your account.
For customers with a U.S.-based mobile phone, please ensure that you’re enrolled in U.S. Bank online banking or the mobile app before calling the JCSU. Once enrolled, call the JCSU to request the wire transfer, and the JCSU will verify the request by sending a one-time passcode to your mobile phone.
