U.S. Bank is dedicated to diversity, equity and inclusion.
Diversity, equity and inclusion are core to everything we do and we’re proud to stand beside the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) community.
AAPI Heritage Month gives us an opportunity each May to celebrate the AAPI history and share plans for our continued alliance. The events of this past year compel us to reflect on how we can help build a better future. We recently announced $60,000 in local grants as part of our pledge to combat biases and acts of violence against our AAPI employees, customers and communities.
Let’s honor AAPI Heritage Month together.
Together, we can drive positive change.
In 2020, we joined Ascend (#Ascend Together) and their partners, including Catalyst, Executive Leadership Council, Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility, National Organization on Disability and Out & Equal, as a Supporting Company on their 5-point Action Agenda to:
- Promote inclusion
- Raise awareness
- Denounce bias
- Support communities
- Give donations
In March 2021, U.S. Bank increased its support of Ascend to fund programming that educates professionals on bias, including the detrimental “model minority” myth. By increasing support to our AAPI partners like Ascend, we hope to create more dialog and understanding. Then we can truly have more to celebrate moving forward.
Let’s share stories of the Asian American experience.
With a shared belief that education is the foundation to understanding one another, U.S. Bank is proud to partner with Center for Asian American Media (CAAM)(Link opens in a new tab). Since 1980, CAAM has been dedicated to presenting to the wider community stories and educational resources that convey the richness and diversity of the Asian American experience.
From May 13 to 23, U.S. Bank will be the co-presenting sponsor of CAAMFest 2021, a film festival that includes more than 100 live virtual, on-demand and drive-in storytelling events.
Asian Americans PBS documentary
U.S. Bank also recommends watching the five-part Asian Americans PBS documentary series, a production of CAAM and WETA Washington, D.C. for PBS, in association with the Independent Television Service (ITVS), Flash Cuts and Tajima-Peña productions.
We’re turning talk into action.
The Good Truck
As part of our pledge to stand with the AAPI community, U.S. Bank distributed 3,000 safety kits through our Good Truck program. These kits include whistles, safety lights and bi-lingual identification cards. The Good Truck delivered them to U.S. Bank branches and community groups in neighborhoods across the San Francisco Bay Area and Sacramento region that are predominantly Asian.
