Former rocket scientist and current Girl Scouts CEO Sylvia Acevedo joins the U.S. Bank Podcast

Sylvia Acevedo remembers looking up at the stars as a young Girl Scout.

It was a moment that went on to shape the rest of her life. It sparked an interest in astronomy, inspired a dream to study engineering at Stanford and ultimately a career as a rocket scientist as NASA.

Now life has come full circle for Acevedo. As CEO of Girl Scouts, she is focused on blending the time-tested skills the organization teaches, such as persistence and entrepreneurship, with skills in emerging areas of opportunity, such as cybersecurity, coding and data analytics.

On the latest episode of the U.S. Bank Podcast, Acevedo talked about her journey in a conversation with U.S. Bank Community Affairs Manager Rockette Ewell.

The episode is part of the second season of the U.S. Bank Podcast, which focuses on how the fast pace of innovation in society today is changing the skills needed to succeed in the economy tomorrow.

The podcast is available on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts and Spotify.
