Senior Project Manager - Financial Modernization

U.S. Bank is seeking a dynamic Project Manager with a financial background to contribute toward the success of our Financial Systems Modernization effort.  This is an exciting long-term venture to enhance our financial processes across the disciplines under the CFO umbrella and beyond (Finance, Treasury, Accounting, Tax, Stress Testing, and Credit, etc.).  The mission is to integrate core databases that can then be leveraged to automate processes and improve reporting with an ultimate goal of enhancing analytics.
The incumbent will utilize project management methodology and tools to track and manage work-streams from initial concept through final implementation.   A working knowledge of databases, process automation, managerial reporting, and a general understanding of bank activities will be valuable.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Guiding an indirect task team to identify project goals, gaining consensus on project items; fostering cooperation and involvement from support team.
  • Building relationships with sponsoring executives and among different groups within and outside the department while serving as a liaison.
  • Working with users to identify and analyze pain points; developing a project plan and providing input to recommendations for request and/or problem resolution.
  • Coordinating with technology and application development teams, both internal and external, to identify solutions that appropriately meet the business needs.
  • Managing the integration of all project work-streams into the broader initiative; identifying and leveraging best practices and ideas across all disciplines


Basic Qualifications
  • Master's degree, or equivalent work experience
  • More than 5 years of business analysis and system implementation experience
  • 10 or more years of experience in financial services industry and/or project management activities

  • Expert knowledge of project management
  • Expert level of knowledge of business function and technical skills
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated capability to oversee multiple concurrent projects, providing coaching and assistance to keep project resources on track and anticipate project delivery challenges
