Responsibilities:
The Data Scientist Intern on the Credit Risk Management team will support the development and projects of the group’s Advanced Analytics program.  The program aims to leverage advanced analytical techniques to extract insights from complex data and ultimately improve our risk management practices.  The intern will partner with the senior data scientist to:
  1. Research business questions and design analytical research/experiments
  2. Write and review code in various programming languages
  3. Review and clean data to prepare for modeling
  4. Develop models and extract insights
  5. Review analysis and challenge assumptions and techniques
  6. Communicate findings and recommendations to risk management teams

 

Qualifications

 
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Pursuing an advanced degree in an Analytical Field (Business Analytics / Mathematics / Computer Science / Statistics / Physics / Operations Research)
  • Experience with advanced analytical techniques such as machine learning/artificial intelligence/statistical design frameworks such as clustering, classification, regression, random forest, ensemble, SVMs, neural networks/deep learning, natural language processing, time series analysis, anomaly detection, graphic analysis, experimental design as well as data science methodologies in general.
  • Experience coding in various languages and software packages (SAS, SQL, R, Python, Spark, H2O, Java, Scala, Julia) to explore data and perform analytical analysis on large, disparate and complex data.
  • Strong communication (presentation and discussion) skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Must be comfortable with ambiguity and have the ability to seek out required information to complete tasks
