Translation Project Manager

This Translation Project Manager reports to the Vice President of Agency Integration and is responsible for managing and coordinating the completion of all translation projects.  The position will manage a team of Spanish Proofreaders/Linguists who are responsible for reviewing and copy editing materials that were translated from English into Spanish to ensure accuracy. Additionally, the Translation Project Manager will work directly with the translation vendor, the Translation Governance Manager and other translation stakeholders, including Product, Omnichannel, and Compliance to ensure timely delivery of translated items.
The ideal candidate will have strong team management skills, be able to manage multiple projects while adhering to deadlines, and enjoy working in a fast-paced, sales-focused organization. Candidate must be the highest level of proficiency in English as well as Spanish, both verbal and written.
Key Responsibilities:
  • File preparation and management using the company’s translation software (Project Director) and supervise the progress of translation projects.
  • Review internal client’s translation requests and assess needs for additional information (e.g. previously translated similar documents, list of acronyms, technical terminology, and translation memories).
  • Coach/mentor a team of proofreaders.
  • Develop efficient workflows and oversee the use and maintenance of tools such as style guides and glossaries.
  • Provide internal partners with cost estimates and project schedules.
  • Develop and maintain strong internal client relationships.
  • Create and maintain a glossary of terms for use with proofreaders and translation vendor.
  • Be a final check on the quality and consistency of the translated materials.


Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree/Masters preferred.
  • Professional proficiency in English and Spanish - Candidate will be asked to complete U.S. Bank’s verbal language assessment, Spanish translation, and writing certification exams.
  • 5-8 years of translation project management or related experience.
  • Experience managing a team.
Preferred Skills/Experience
  • Project management certification or similar level accomplishment.
  • Proven writing/editing skills.
  • Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office applications, and experience preparing executive level presentations.  Familiarity with Adobe InCopy & InDesign.
  • Degree in Spanish or certification in translation, i.e. American Translators Association preferred.
  • Ability to proactively consult with internal customers, business line and/or project leaders.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Creative thinker with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a project team.
  • Strong planning and time management skills.
  • Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to follow in-house style guides.
