Senior Business Analyst (Capital Markets)

U.S. Bank is in search of a senior business analyst with experience in capital markets functions related to front and back office activities. The individual will be working with various business lines to help the application development team in delivering software in agile environment by providing functional requirements, work with the test lead in testing of applications and analyzing and evaluating user needs.
This senior business analyst role would be responsible for DataMart and Capital Markets Sales, Trading, Operations and compliance related initiatives to assists in developing and maintaining a complete and accurate understanding of how an impacted business unit conducts its business and detailed knowledge of the business's current technology and infrastructure from a functional perspective. Person will assists in analyzing and documenting business processes and will works with business representatives to identify, analyze, document, and refine detailed business needs. Person should be able designs functional solutions that appropriately meet the business needs. Reviews test plans for multiple projects and ensures that test cases and results meet requirements. The role will interface with the agile teams and the experience of scrum master is preferred. The knowledge of various fixed income trading functions including experience in supporting users with vendors applications such as Bloomberg is preferred.
The ideal candidate should have 7+ years of experience in interfacing with business users in Capital Markets space with good understanding of credit and muni fixed income sales, trading, operations and compliance functions. The candidate must have experience of working in agile environment to deliver efficient software product. This position may or may not have direct reports the candidate should have ability to work as an individual contributor as well. The candidate should be able to demonstrate expertise and proficiency in the following areas:
  • Ability to conduct analysis of business needs, including scheduling meetings, planning agendas, conferring with business line leaders, documenting and making verbal and written presentations
  • Understanding of agile methodology and testing methodology/procedures.
  • Helping the development team in translating the business requirement to technical implementable requirements.
  • Strong experience coordinating efforts for implementing products across distributed teams.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Thorough knowledge of “Capital Markets” functions
  • Extensive leadership and negotiation skills
  • Understanding of Fixed Income and Municipals Product group trading related activities
  • Working with various ECN/ vendor applications such as Bloomberg, MarketAxess.
  • Ability to write basic SQL and knowledge of keys and database joins
  • Supporting frontend/OLTP applications using .Net, with or without direct reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to act as a requirements lead to design/enhance an application.
  • Good to have skills include:
    • Worked as Scrum Master for Development team
    • Managing software deliverables independently.




Basic Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
- At least 6 years experience with activities, tasks, practices and deliverables for assessing and documenting business opportunities, benefits, risks, and success factors of potential applications.


Preferred Skills/Experience

- 7+ years of experience in business analyst related functions

- Worked on various Bloomberg tools including TOMS.

- FINRA Certification is preferred but not essential
