Senior Application Performance Management Engineer

U.S. Bank is seeking a Sr. Application Performance Management Engineer to be a part of a high-performance agile development team with design and development experience to contribute toward the success of our technology initiatives.  Candidate should have development and implementation experience of large-scale mission-critical applications. You will be responsible for designing & building of the application monitoring tools, which provide reactive and proactive alerting as well as rich management capabilities. Responsibilities include designing and building new services using tools, roadmap planning and enriching of existing instruments to enhance the service.
  • Ownership of AppDynamics as an Application Performance Management solution.
  • Planning, supporting and responsible for creating and implementing system monitoring that will drive to improve the performance and reliability of the U.S. Bank applications.
  • Implement and execute a strategy to patch and upgrades including verification.
  • Level 3/Level 4 support in the incident & problem management process for the Operations team.
  • Work with the stakeholders, product owners, scrum masters, business analysts, and architects to analyze requirements and provide recommendations.
  • Working with members of the infrastructure and development teams to gather requirements and design solutions to meet monitoring needs of new and existing products and services.
  • Apply industry best practices to fine-tuning process and best practices/standards framework activities.
  • Effectively collaborate with business team members to answer questions and clarify expectations around requirements and delivery of functionality.
  • Interface to tool vendor as appropriate.
  • Typical office environment; may be stressful at times due to deadlines, outages, dealing with team members, vendors, and other departments.
  • There may be a requirement to occasionally work a flexible schedule with the possibility of working long hours as work hours may fluctuate due to major projects or events that take place. Extended work hours day, night or weekend and after-hour may be expected and required.

Basic Qualifications


-Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
-At least 7 years experience within a total information technology (IT) environment.
-At least 5 years experience with BI applications; decision support systems, query and reporting, online analytical processing, statistical analysis, forecasting, and data mining.
-At least 4 years experience with tools, facilities and techniques for managing and administering data.


Preferred Skills/Experience


-Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, CIS, MIS or similar field.

- Minimum 8 years of experience in implementing & supporting tools infrastructure for large-scale enterprise monitoring center operating on a 24x7 basis.

- Solid understanding of infrastructure components, including system, storage, networking, security, and their role in an enterprise architecture.

- Ability to work independently and manage multiple task assignments including planning, organizing, and providing status on a variety of tasks, assignments, projects, and reports.

- Must have high attention to detail, be well organized and be a self-starter.

- Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills.

- Demonstrate the ability to set a vision and execute on the vision.

- Effective team building and motivational skills.


Technical Skills:
-Strong Oracle/ SQL Server / My SQL experience

-Scripting experience with Shell, Perl, Python or Java

-Hands on experience on the administration side of Application/Infra/Network monitoring tools such as Zabbix, Nagios, New Relic, AppDynamics, Solarwinds, Oracle OEM, Dynatrace, Splunk, Elastic stack.


Preferred :


- Administration side working knowledge of AppDynamics.

- Previous experience working in a Scrum team
