Senior Application Developer (Java/On-Call)

U.S. Bank is seeking a Senior Application Developer with design and development experience to contribute toward the success of our technology initiatives.  Performs and/or leads the technical design and development of complex application systems using existing and emerging technology platforms. May participate in some application architecture functions.  Estimates and defines time tables and project tasks; analyzes and estimates cost and time. Leads change impact analysis.  Creates and may review unit and test plans. Identifies opportunities to improve testing process.  Performs and/or leads design, coding, testing, implementation, and documentation of solution. Develops basic and detailed program specifications. Ensures that expected application performance levels are achieved.  Designs, codes, tests, debugs, documents, maintains, and modifies computer programs of high complexity, significance, and risk.  Leads technical staff and clients to investigate, analyze, and resolve complex technical problems. Identifies and manages interfaces, service levels, standards, and configurations.  Conducts analysis of organizational needs for the development and implementation of application systems.  Monitors operating efficiency of existing application systems. Proactively identifies opportunities for improvement and recommends technical solutions.  Demonstrates good understanding of the business needs driving the projects.

Qualifications

 

 

Basic Qualifications

 

-Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
-At least 7 years experience with developing and implementing applications.

 

Technical Skills
 
-At least 3 years’ experience developing web applications with client/server controls
-Strong knowledge of client side development with JavaScript and JQuery
-Experience with XML Schema and AJAX
-Experience with APIs for XML Web Services (JAX-WS) and Java API for RESTful Web Services (JAX-RS) framework
-Experience architecting and designing systems in large and complex environments within the financial industry
-Expert level of knowledge of computer applications, programming and systems design/analysis.
-Exceptional logical, analytical and problem solving skills.
-Detailed knowledge of industry trends with excellent skills in planning and organizing.
-Experience with Java and J2EE application development in a web environment
-Experience with JSP development including experience with custom tags and the MVC pattern
-Experience with WebSphere Studio App Developer/ Rational Application Developer/ Eclipse (or other integrated development environment)
-Experience with Frameworks such as Struts, Spring, Hibernate, iBatis, myBatis, etc.
-Experience with unit testing and testing frameworks such as jUnit and Selenium
-Knowledge and working experience in SQL and database design
-Knowledge of security implications of web applications, and have experience designing secure web applications
-Working knowledge in HTML, JavaScript, and CSS development
-Knowledgeable of formal software development methodology (Waterfall, Agile, Scrum)
-Experience with application and system architecture
-Excellent interpersonal, verbal/written communication and presentation skills
-Ability to work in and be contributing member of a team
