Global Structured Finance Disputes Manager

This is a newly created position responsible for expanding and further developing business line capabilities in managing certain disputes and/or other complex risk issues primarily in support of the Global Structured Finance (GSF) business of Corporate Trust (GCTS).  Incumbent is responsible to distinguish, assess and communicate within the business line with respect to multifaceted issues and to exercise sound business judgment in a dynamic environment.  Longer term, the position will have a meaningful role in supporting and/or leading, as appropriate, a Corporate Trust cross functional team focused on initiatives with an emphasis on managing portfolio risk.  Lastly, the position will engage in and represent the bank in industry initiatives focused primarily on structured finance products.  The position will work closely with GSF and GCTS senior managers along with the business line’s partners in the Law Division, WM&SS Risk Management and Trust Compliance Groups.
Primary responsibilities include:
  • Senior business Line Lead:  Primary contact and responsible manager for particular GSF disputes and related expenses.  Engage and consult regularly with the Law Division and outside counsel.
  • Issue Assessment:  Independently assess issues, consulting with appropriate legal/business line and risk management resources, and provide guidance to senior managers within GSF and responsible managers within the GCTS Default Group.
  • Risk Awareness:  Educate GSF management on unique issues to enable issue identification and appropriate elevation.
  • Industry Collaboration:  Actively engage in industry forums to gain insight into business practices and/or emerging issues; represent GSF in relevant working groups through SFIG, ABA CTC or similar venues.

Essential Experience & Knowledge:
  • 15+ years of Corporate Trust experience, including 5+ years in a managerial or similar senior role.
  • Strong understanding of Corporate Trust market with particular focus on structured products (including spectrum of asset classes, cash flows features, legal/tax structure, servicing requirements).
  • Experience reviewing, negotiating and administering CT contracts strongly preferred.
