U.S. Bank is seeking a Director of Data Governance to contribute toward the success of establishing enterprise data governance capabilities within the Enterprise Data Governance organization.
 
Responsibilities
  • Will be the primary driver of developing capabilities that will improve and sustain the governance, management, protection and value of U.S. Bank’s data assets.
  • Lead the ongoing policy and capabilities development to enable compliance with regulator expectations around BCBS 239, as well as enable improved management decision making and achievement of company strategies
  • Development of data governance practices and deeper guidance on how to adopt data governance principles across the bank.
  • Provide requirements to our technology organization to enable tool delivery for improved data management for critical data including metadata management, data quality and lineage.
  • Will work with the Chief Data Governance executive within Risk Management & Compliance and actively work with all business lines and support groups on development, approval and adoption of data strategies and policies.
  • Drive and influence decision making around data policy and capabilities within the Enterprise Data Governance Committee.
  • Enable improved understanding of data governance and how it brings business value across the organization

Qualifications

 
Basic Qualifications
-Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
 
Preferred Skills/Experience
 
Working experience in:
  • Following regulations and principles: BCBS-239, RDAR, SOX, BASEL, CCAR, AML and KYC.
  • General industry awareness around data maturity models such as the EDM Councils model, Consulting firms models, or DAMA.
  Extensive experience in:
 
  • Driving change for data governance including: project/program management, software development life cycle methodologies, data quality, metadata software packages, metadata, and architecture.
  • Strong understanding of financial services will be critical as well.
 
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, a strategic mindset, transformational and cultural change management, planning and execution skills and business level analytic skills. Collaboration and influencing skills are critical along with an ability to navigate a large and complex organization.
 
Experience in data governance and managing BCBS 239/ Risk data Aggregation & Reporting programs is a must.
