Typically manages small to medium staff of Underwriters with 2 to 5 direct reports, through supervisors, non-exempt staff and/or senior level professionals. Defines group objectives. Utilizes a high degree of problem solving skills, providing insight, implication and recommendation to senior management. Has opportunity to affect a significant portion of revenue or expenses, serious loss of service, or serious delays or monetary loss. Participates in the development and implementation of medium to long range changes. May delegate authority when managing department managers. Involvement in daily operations is generally limited to solving the most difficult problems which often affect other areas.
