Elavon is currently recruiting for an Airline Commercial Credit and Risk Analyst, who will be responsible for making recommendations to the person(s) making the final credit and risk decisions on new, renewal, and extension of credit and risk to Elavon airline customers. It is a team of two or three that works very closely with Elavon Credit and Risk Management. The candidate can be located in either Denver or Minneapolis. This position reports directly to the Head of Airline Credit and Risk at Elavon. Additional responsibilities are as follows:
  • Performs the most complex credit and risk reviews, with analysis of large consumer or commercial accounts and/or portfolios of accounts to make the final lending decisions to approve or deny the extension of credit and risk or determine potential credit quality and risk issues;
  • Conducts a complete credit and risk analysis, including gathering, analyzing, and interpreting all types of credit and risk information on existing and prospective customers;
  • Performs economic and industry analyses, financial projections, and risk assessments, and based on those analyses, provides expert advice and makes recommendations to management concerning how to preserve credit and risk quality and minimize risk and potential loss to the company;
  • Advises the person(s) responsible for making the final lending decision on new credit, after analyzing and evaluating the customer’s needs and circumstances, and recommends that the credit be approved or denied;
  • Underwrites new business and screens new prospects to determine the suitability for the portfolio and the appropriate credit and risk recommendations are made to sales staff;
  • Performs daily approval of processing payments to airlines and ensures the risk data that airlines require are sent to them on a timely basis;
  • Approves new processing outlets and occasionally resolves operational issues with accounts;
  • Completes internal and external reporting, which includes internal review scheduling and risk rating monitoring, letters of credit maintenance, contractual compliance with certain airlines, weekly monitoring of carrier compliance, quarterly internal reporting to U.S. Bank, monthly reporting to Elavon and U.S. Bank, and quarterly reporting to bank partners and the Federal Reserve;
  • Works with internal and external auditors to ensure the highest level of compliance for all underwriting procedures;
  • Participates in quarterly compliance reviews and yearly audits;
  • Interacts with airlines regularly on a worldwide basis related to various customer issues; and
  • Advises on contract terms during negotiations with carriers and external Counsel.


Basic Qualifications  
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or equivalent education and experience
  • Seven or more years of related experience in commercial credit and risk analysis, including:
    • Excellent credit and risk analysis and analytical skills
    • Ability to apply knowledge in the areas of finance to understand the overall lending and business environment
    • In-depth knowledge of credit and risk analysis, administration, and policy and procedures
    • Effective oral and written communication skills and technical report writing skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree, such as an MBA, and/or CFA certification
  • Ability to speak Spanish
