The person in this role will be responsible for approving the extension of credit and/or advising the person(s) making the final lending decisions to approve or deny the extension of credit.  Duties include reviewing customer accounts and/or portfolios in order to identify and act on potential credit quality issues. Our Small Business Underwriters conduct extensive credit analyses on existing and prospective customers prior to making or recommending a credit decision. This also includes conducting extensive analyses of suspect accounts or portfolios prior to taking or recommending corrective action, as well as  conducting specialized analyses and preparing specialized reports on loan quality/portfolio quality and based on those analyses provides expert advice and makes recommendations to management. Performs economic and industry analyses, financial projections and risk assessments.
 
The ideal candidate will have Small business or Commercial Underwriting/Credit Analysis experience, good verbal and written communication skills and excellent analytical skills.
 
 
 

Qualifications

 
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
- Five to seven years of experience in credit analysis

Preferred Skills/Experience
- Excellent credit analysis and analytical skills
- Thorough knowledge of credit administration, policy and procedures
- Thorough knowledge of economics, accounting, and finance
- In-depth knowledge of risk analysis
- Excellent technical report writing skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
