A woman with a microphone. Text, US Bank asks, what do you know about credit? (SPEECH) Hey, everyone Allyson Berger here, and we're on a college campus right now giving out free golf cart rides in exchange for answering just a few questions. So let's go find someone to talk to. Hey, how are you doing? I'm good. Would you like a free ride in a golf cart? Sure. So I want to talk to you about credit. Sure. Do you know what a good credit score is? I don't even have a credit card. College is a time for exploration. Your ability to get credit may not even be on your radar right now. (DESCRIPTION) Allyson and a man ride in the golf cart. Scenes of campus are shown. (SPEECH) How important is it to have a good credit score? It's necessary for loans. And I might want to take out a loan to start off a business. So do you know how to establish a good credit score, though? It depends on how you use your credit card. I would assume paying my bills on time. Do you know what a good credit score is? I believe, 800 is the top credit you can get. (DESCRIPTION) Curved bar. 300 in red, 850 in blue. (SPEECH) A credit score is a number between 300 and 850. You're entitled to a credit report every 12 months from each of the three major consumer reporting companies, like Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion, for free. How come you don't have a credit card? I'm afraid that I might mess up and have some serious financial consequences. I prefer debit cards because with debit cards you already have your own money in it. Is a credit card something you're interested in getting soon? Ah, eventually I plan on getting one. It's important to check your credit report to make sure the information is accurate. Your credit score should be taken seriously. With a little effort, it doesn't have to be a burden. Thanks so much for hanging out with me. You're welcome. It was nice hanging out with you. I'm glad to learn new things every day, especially from random occurrences such as this. [LAUGHTER] (DESCRIPTION) Allyson and students ride in the golf cart around campus. Allison laughing and smiling broadly. (SPEECH) Your credit score will be with you, well, for the rest of your life. The smart decisions you make today will pay off in years to come. I'm Allyson and thanks for watching. [MUSIC PLAYING] (DESCRIPTION) Allyson stands in the grass at a park. U.S. Bank logo. Equal Housing Disclaimer
