Navigate to U.S. Bank's Online Investing page and choose how you'd like to invest.

• Automated investing
  1. If you've chosen automated investing, select Start investing on the next page.
  2. Review the disclaimers and select Continue.
  3. Log in with your username and password and proceed through the application and funding process. 
• Self-directed investing
  1. If you've chosen self-directed investing, select Open a self-directed account on the next page.
  2. Log in with your username and password and proceed through the application and funding process.

Additional information

To apply online, you must be at least 18 years old and a legal resident of the United States.

You will need the following information to apply online:

• SSN or ITIN.
• Employment information.
• Valid identification, such as driver’s license or passport.
• Financial information, such as household and net worth.

The Online Investing page can also be found by following these steps:

1. From the U.S. Bank home page, select Personal at the top.
2. Choose Investing and retirement, then select Online investing.

Visit our Certificate of Deposit center to learn about the CD rates we offer and apply for the option that fits best for you. After entering your zip code, you can also use the How much can you earn calculator at the bottom of the page. 

To apply for a new CD, choose the experience that best suits your needs.

Online banking

1. Select Products and offers at the top of the page, then Savings & CDs. 
2. Select Certificate of deposit (CDs).
3. Review the offers available. Choose Learn more for additional details.
4. When ready, select Start saving to begin the application process.

U.S. Bank Mobile App

1. Select the Explore accounts and offers icon located in the bottom right corner. 
2. Select Savings & CDs then Certificate of deposit (CD).
3. When ready, select Start saving to begin the application process.

When the CD reaches its maturity date, we'll automatically offer to renew it. Renewal offers stay available until the grace period ends or when the CD has been renewed, whichever comes first. Your grace period can be found on the Overview tab of your CD. 

How to renew your CD in digital banking

1. Select your CD account from the dashboard. 
   • From online banking, choose Renew your CD.
   • From the U.S. Bank Mobile App, choose View renewal information.
2. Choose the term you'd like to renew at from the CD renewal specials.
3. Select the radio button for the renewal option you'd like and select Continue.
4. Confirm your contact information is correct or select Edit my info to change it.
5. If you chose Renew by adding funds from another bank, continue below. 
   1. Enter the amount you'd like to add and then select Calculate Return.
   2. If you're happy with the CD renewal details choose Continue or enter a new amount to recalculate.
   3. Choose how often you want interest payments paid, how you want the interest dispersed, and select Continue.
   4. Select how'd you'd like to transfer from your other bank, then Continue.
   5. Enter the requested details about your account to continue.
6. If you chose Renew by adding funds from a U.S. Bank account, continue below.
   1. Enter the amount you'd like to add, select your account to transfer from, then select Calculate Return. 
   2. If you're happy with the CD renewal details choose Continue or enter a new amount to recalculate.
   3. Choose how often you want interest payments paid, how you want the interest dispersed, and select Continue.
7. If you chose Renew with current balance, choose how often you want interest payments paid, how you want the interest dispersed, and select Continue.
8. Review your renewal information. Select Edit next to the information that needs changed and/or choose Renew now when you're ready.

The best time to withdraw funds is when the term of your CD has ended (i.e., matured). By waiting until the CD has matured, you can avoid fees and penalties.
