MasterCard® SecureCode™

SecureCode is a service from MasterCard and U.S. Bank that provides you with an added layer of protection when you make purchases online with your U.S. Bank MasterCard Credit or Check Card.

  • This easy-to-use service is totally secure and completely free!

  • Always enjoy added safety when you use your card to shop at participating online merchants.

Make Your Online Shopping More Secure

U.S. Bank offers MasterCard® SecureCode (MCSC) as added security protection when making purchases through the internet. MasterCard offers comprehensive fraud protection, but MasterCard® SecureCode goes even a step further, adding an extra layer of security at the point where you enter credit card information online. The service helps prevent unauthorized online use before it happens.

How MasterCard® SecureCode Works

MasterCard® SecureCode is a unique service that helps protect MasterCard card numbers against unauthorized use by asking for additional verification when an online transaction is initiated.

  • MasterCard takes extensive precautions to secure your personal and financial information, and it is only used for the purposes of providing this service. Personal and credit card information is transmitted using high level encryption, and is stored on a secure server behind a firewall to protect against unauthorized access.
  • When you pay with your MasterCard, the MasterCard® SecureCode service is automatically extended to you at participating online stores.
  • After you enter your card number and submit your order a processing window will appear. Based on several factors about that transaction you may or may not be asked to verify additional information to complete the transaction. You may also be asked to contact U.S. Bank prior to authorizing the purchase to ensure it is you using the card.
