Volunteerism

U.S. Bank Volunteers

U.S. Bank encourages and supports employee community involvement through the U.S. Bank Volunteers program, where we provide access to benefits and events that support both company-sponsored volunteer activities and individual interests. In 2012, U.S. Bank employees shared their skills and knowledge with our communities through more than 250,000 hours of volunteer service with a variety of nonprofit organizations.

To make volunteering easy for employees we partner with VolunteerMatch. VolunteerMatch gives U.S. Bank employees access to a wide variety of volunteer opportunities, assists in tracking the hours they contribute, and allows U.S. Bank to recognize employee volunteers that are making an exceptional impact on our communities.

We invite all qualifying nonprofits to open a basic VolunteerMatch account free of charge to more easily connect with the thousands of U.S. Bank employee volunteers.

In all areas – volunteerism, financial education, innovative services and capacity building programs – U.S. Bank moves forward in a way that strengthens the fabric of our communities in all their rich diversity and potential.

U.S. Bank Development Network

At U.S. Bank, our greatest asset is our employees. The Development Network promotes the personal and professional development of U.S. Bancorp employees by encouraging and capitalizing on their diversity. With 61 Development Network Chapters, employees throughout U.S. Bank are provided opportunities to learn new skills, network with colleagues and engage in meaningful community projects.

U.S. Bank Green Teams

U.S. Bank Green Teams are groups of employee volunteers interested in being internal ambassadors for our environmental stewardship efforts. Green Team members encourage sustainable behavior from fellow employees whether at work or at home, like reducing printing where possible, turning off lights not being used, recycling and utilizing alternatives to driving. Since the program’s inception in 2007, U.S. Bank has created 30 active Green Teams nationwide.

U.S. Bank Volunteer Day

U.S. Bank provides employees paid time off every year to connect with their communities. Through this program, we offer eligible employees up to 16 hours to actively use their skills and knowledge to improve their communities.

Volunteer Partnerships

American Heart Association

U.S. Bank Volunteers work hard to keep our communities heart healthy. Development Network hosted 26 HeartWalk events across our markets in 2012, drawing thousands of employees, family and friends to support the mission of the American Heart Association with contributions of time and money. In addition, U.S. Bank hosts a variety of heart healthy seminars and encourages employees to walk at work on National Walking Day.

Habitat for Humanity

Each year, U.S. Bank Volunteers put their hearts and hammers to work building and rehabilitating homes for those in need of decent, affordable housing. In 2012, the U.S. Bank Development Network hosted 52 employee events, gathering nearly 750 committed volunteers at worksites throughout the country. In addition, the U.S. Bank Foundation contributed more than $350,000 in grants to Habitat for Humanity organizations.
