Our Team: Renewable Energy Tax Credits

Since 2008, U.S. Bancorp has steadily been making a name for itself in Renewable Energy Tax Credit (RETC) investing. As of December 31, 2014, our renewable energy team has provided more than $3.4 billion in renewable energy tax equity to help finance over $7 billion of renewable energy projects in the United States. Darren Van’t Hof leads a team that executes internal and external renewable energy policy initiatives. Through those initiatives U.S. Bank has invested over $3.4 billion in renewable energy throughout the United States. Over the past 10 years, Darren has held various management and leadership positions within USBCDC. His background includes real estate development, asset management and structured finance. He received a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Missouri–St. Louis.

Dan Siegel originates renewable energy investment opportunities across the country. Most recently, he was responsible for overseeing the RETC underwriting and closing team. As one of the team’s initial RETC officers in 2009, he has provided substantial support to RETC origination, development, and documentation in an effort to grow the business line. During his career at USBCDC, Dan has closed nearly $1 billion of NMTC, HTC, and RETC equity investments, the majority of which have financed renewable energy facilities across the country. Dan holds a JD and an LL.M. in Taxation from Washington University in St. Louis.


Adam Altenhofen

Adam Altenhofen originates renewable energy investment opportunities across the country. Prior to this role, Adam was a senior project manager for USBCDC’s renewable energy investments group. In that role, Adam closed and underwrote investments in solar and wind that totaled over 1,100 MW. Adam also reviewed and provided guidance on structuring and underwriting of the group’s investments. He previously held positions in power and energy lending at U.S. Bank. His background includes more than 10 years of experience in structured and corporate finance for power projects, electric and water utilities, and independent power producers. Adam received a B.S. in business administration from Colorado State University.


Ed Rossier

Ed Rossier is responsible for overseeing our underwriting and closing team that specializes in renewable energy investments. He has more than seven years of project management experience, which includes negotiating, structuring, and underwriting 40 tax equity transactions for USBCDC, more than 20 of which were renewable energy investments that exceeded 200 megawatts of generating capacity. Prior to joining our team in 2010, Ed worked for Werner Sobek New York, Inc., an engineering and design firm, where he served as the director of business development. Ed holds a Master of Architecture from the University of Washington and a BA in Art History from Williams College.
