Since 2008, U.S. Bancorp has steadily been making a name for itself in Renewable Energy Tax Credit (RETC) investing. As of December 31, 2013, our renewable energy team has provided more than $2.2 billion in renewable energy tax equity to help finance over $6.8 billion of renewable energy projects in the United States. Matt Philpott manages the New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC), Historic Tax Credit (HTC) and RETC production staff. He oversees the origination, underwriting and approval of all investments, as well as the evaluation of the impacts those investments have on communities. Prior to joining USBCDC in 2005, Matt had more than a decade of construction management and real-estate development experience. He holds an MS from the University of California-Davis and a BA from Wesleyan University.

Darren Van’t Hof executes internal and external renewable energy initiatives and serves as USBCDC’s head of business development for renewable energy investments. Prior to leading our renewable energy team, he served on our NMTC and HTC business development and project management staff for four years. His tenure has also included prior leadership positions in NMTC and HTC asset management and Low-Income Housing Tax Credit asset management. He presently serves on the Environmental Stewardship Counsel for U.S. Bank and is an active board member of the Solar Energy Industry Association. His background includes real-estate development, asset management and structured finance. He holds a BA from the University of Missouri.

Dan Siegel originates renewable energy investment opportunities across the country. Most recently, he was responsible for overseeing the RETC underwriting and closing team. As one of the team’s initial RETC officers in 2009, he has provided substantial support to RETC origination, development, and documentation in an effort to grow the business line. During his career at USBCDC, Dan has closed nearly $1 billion of NMTC, HTC, and RETC equity investments, the majority of which have financed renewable energy facilities across the country. Dan holds a JD and an LL.M. in Taxation from Washington University in St. Louis.
