Managing Committee

Led by Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Andy Cecere, our 14-member Managing Committee consists of the most senior leaders at our company. The team includes the heads of our four core business lines and business support areas including digital, risk and strategy. Together, they are a diverse force of knowledge, talent and experience and embody our purpose and core values.

Andy Cecere

Andy is the chairman, president and chief executive officer of U.S. Bank. He has served as president of U.S. Bank since 2016, chief executive officer since 2017 and chairman since 2018. Since joining the U.S. Bancorp finance group in 1985, he served various leadership roles including chief operating officer and chief financial officer. Early in his career, he was a part of the corporate development team that orchestrated a series of mergers and acquisitions and laid the foundation for the superregional bank that we are today. Andy was born in Chicago in 1960 and grew up in the Twin Cities, where he earned an MBA from the University of Minnesota and a bachelor’s degree in business administration and finance from the University of St. Thomas. He is active in the community, serving on the board of advisors for the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota, and the board of trustees for the University of St. Thomas.

Elcio Barcelos

Elcio is senior executive vice president and chief human resources officer of U.S. Bank. He joined our company in this role in 2020 to develop and implement the human resources and talent agenda that enables U.S. Bank to achieve our strategic goals and objectives. As part of this charter, he leads all programs and services in the areas of human capital planning, employee recruiting and onboarding, organizational and talent development, employee and retiree support, and compensation and benefits. Elcio holds a bachelor’s degree from the Universidade de Santo Amaro, Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Jim Chosy

Jim is a senior executive vice president and general counsel of U.S. Bank. He joined our company in that role in 2013, previously serving as general counsel and corporate secretary of former U.S. Bancorp subsidiary Piper Jaffray. Under his leadership, our law division was recognized among the most innovative in the country by Corporate Counsel magazine. He also built out extensive pro bono and diversity initiatives in the division. Jim has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a law degree from the University of Minnesota.

Greg Cunningham

Greg is a senior executive vice president and the chief diversity officer of U.S. Bank. He has held that role since 2020, previously serving in customer experience and heading our diversity office after joining our company in 2015. He previously held various marketing roles at Target. Under his leadership, we were recognized by DiversityInc as one of the Top 50 Companies for Diversity. Greg has a bachelor’s degree from Clark Atlanta University and an MBA from Fordham University. He is active in the community, including as a national board member of UNCF.

Terry Dolan

Terry is a vice chair and the chief financial officer of U.S. Bank. He has held that role since 2016 and joined our company in 1998, previously serving in roles including vice chair of Wealth Management and Investment Services. Under his leadership we have built on our strong financial position, with our returns on assets and equity among the highest in the industry. Terry has also been a leader in our community development work, such as an initiative in the historic Pullman community on the South Side of Chicago, and investments in affordable housing, economic development and renewable energy tax credit financing. He has been actively involved in numerous community organizations that provide services to the homeless, arts and culture, and higher education. He has a bachelor’s degree from the University of St. Thomas.

Gunjan Kedia

Gunjan is the vice chair of Wealth Management and Investment Services of U.S. Bank. She joined our company in that role in 2016, previously serving in leadership roles at State Street Financial and Bank of New York Mellon. In her role, she oversees nearly $239 billion in assets under management, more than $8 trillion in assets under custody as of December 31, 2020, and has been recognized among the Most Powerful Women in Finance by American Banker and as one of Barron’s 100 Most Influential Women in U.S. Finance. She has a bachelor’s degree from the Delhi College of Engineering and an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University.

Jim Kelligrew

Jim is the vice chair of Corporate & Commercial Banking of U.S. Bank. He has served in that role since 2016, previously building out our fixed income and capital markets (FICM) businesses after joining our company in 2009. Prior to joining U.S. Bank, he held leadership roles with Wells Fargo Securities and Bank of America Securities. Based in Charlotte, North Carolina, his leadership role helped pave the way for expansion in Charlotte which now includes 850 employees, including the senior leaders of our commercial real estate and FICM businesses, and led to the establishment of our first East Coast branch in the market in 2019. Jim has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan.

Shailesh Kotwal

Shailesh is the vice chair of Payment Services of U.S. Bank, the role he took when he joined U.S. Bank in 2015. He leads the division that provides digital and card-based payment and money movement capabilities to consumers, businesses and institutions of all sizes in North America and Europe. He has more than 30 years of experience in international financial services and has managed a number of businesses throughout his career, including consumer banking, payments and cards, wealth management, insurance, mortgages, deposits and lending in 30 different countries across North and South America, Asia Pacific and Europe. He is a chartered accountant and has a bachelor’s degree from Bombay University. He serves on the board of Early Warning Systems and the New York City chapter of the American Red Cross.

Kate Quinn

Kate is a vice chair and the chief administrative officer of U.S. Bank. She has held this role since 2017 and is responsible for driving strategy, transformation, analytics, communications, marketing, branding and reputation management. A five-time Most Powerful Women in Banking honoree by American Banker, Kate has led the development of our reputation building activities, as well as the advancement of diversity, equity and inclusion and corporate social responsibility initiatives. In overseeing both digital and physical infrastructure, she is cross-functionally guiding our approach to the future of banking. Kate has a bachelor’s degree from Hunter College and an MBA from the University of Phoenix.

Jodi Richard

Jodi is a vice chair and the chief risk officer of U.S. Bank. She has held that role since 2018 and joined our company in 2014. She previously served in leadership roles at HSBC and as a national bank examiner at the OCC. Jodi oversees all aspects of our company’s risk management activities, including operational risk, credit risk, market risk, model risk, global compliance, independent risk review and regulatory services.This includes integrating risk management into our Agile development studios as part of our digital transformation. Jodi has a bachelor’s degree from University of Northern Iowa and is active in the community including board service for Catholic Charities of Minneapolis and St. Paul. She also serves on the boards of Fairview Health Services and the Risk Management Association.

Mark Runkel

Mark is a senior executive vice president and the chief credit officer of U.S. Bank. He has held that role since 2013, previously serving in risk management roles of escalating responsibility since joining our company in 2002. In his role, he oversees our effective approach to credit, which is evidenced by ratings from Moody’s, S&P and Fitch that are among the highest in the world. He has a bachelor’s degree from Augustana University and an MBA from St. Mary’s University, and he is active in the community including board service for Special Olympics Minnesota.

Dominic Venturo

Dominic is a senior executive vice president and the chief digital officer of U.S. Bank. He has held that role since 2020, previously establishing our enterprise innovation office and serving in product management roles since joining our company in 1998. His leadership has put us on the forefront of digital innovation including voice banking, contactless payments, artificial intelligence and much more. His team also regularly hosts hackathons to support STEM education and build our talent pipeline. Dominic has a bachelor’s degree from Oregon State University.

Jeff von Gillern

Jeff is the vice chair of Technology and Operations Services of U.S. Bank. He has held that role since 2010 and joined our company in 2001. He oversees bank operations, contact centers, information security and technology infrastructure, including web development, which has been integral to our digital transformation and provided the backbone for innovations like our U.S. Bank Mobile App, peer-to-peer payments and other tools. The division also shapes future leaders by participating in mentoring programs with nonprofits like Girls Who Code. Jeff has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Arizona.

Tim Welsh

Tim is the vice chair of Consumer and Business Banking of U.S. Bank. He has held that role since 2019 and joined our company in 2017, previously serving as a senior partner specializing in financial services and consumer experience at McKinsey. Under his leadership, we rebuilt our U.S. Bank Mobile App with a focus on providing personalized insights to help customers manage spending, saving and more. Tim has a bachelor’s degree and an MBA from Harvard University and is active in the community, including board service for Catholic Charities USA.
