Frequently Asked Questions - Packages

How do I qualify for a U.S. Bank Package?
U.S. Bank Packages start with a U.S. Bank Package Checking Account (Gold, Silver or Platinum) and a qualifying account:
  • A Package Money Market Savings and/or
  • A U.S. Bank issued credit card

The accountholder names must be the same on U.S. Bank Package accounts.

What happens if the U.S. Bank Package Checking Account or one of the qualifying accounts (Package Money Market Savings or U.S. Bank issued credit card) is closed?
The U.S. Bank Package will be incomplete. A letter will be mailed indicating that there is a risk of losing package benefits unless a new account is opened within 30 days to complete the package.
Is the Package Money Market Savings account a money market account or a savings account?
The Package Money Market Savings account is a savings account, because it does not have check writing capability.
What does "overdraft occasion" mean in regards to the benefit "waiving fee on the first overdraft occasion"?
Occasion is a day in which the account has insufficient funds to cover an item. An occasion occurs in a rolling 12-month period, not a calendar year. We will cover all overdraft and insufficient funds (NSF) fees assessed in that day. This could be up to six of each type or a total of 12 in a day.  For Transferred Accounts: ODs and  NSFs that happened prior to being transferred to U.S. Bank Package Checking Accounts are counted as the first occasion and will not be waived.
When choosing the benefit received with my credit card, can I choose either a monthly reward bonus or an interest rebate with any credit card?
This benefit is driven by the card type. For a FlexPerksSM Cash, Select or Travel Rewards Credit Card, you will receive the monthly bonus on rewards earned for net purchases in a month. The interest rebate is only available on the U.S. Bank Visa Platinum Card.
How do 5% and 10% interest rebates work on credit cards?
The rebates are only available on the U.S. Bank Visa Platinum credit card. The rebate will be paid annually on Nov. 1 and calculated using the total annual finance charges paid in the previous 12 cycles.
For the Gold package, what types of direct deposits can I use to waive the monthly maintenance fee?
Direct deposit must be a monthly direct deposit of payroll, pension, Social Security or any other regular monthly deposit of $100 or more.
For the Gold package, is there a minimum amount I must transfer automatically to waive the monthly maintenance fee?
Yes, $25 is the minimum monthly automatic transfer from the U.S. Bank Gold Checking to another U.S. Bank personal checking, savings, money market, IRA and HSA.
For the Gold package, which accounts can I set up auto-pay to?
Automatic payments must be made from the U.S. Bank Gold Checking account to a personal loan, line of credit or credit card. This does not include a mortgage, student loans and some indirect loans.
For the Gold package, does the loan auto-pay option to waive the monthly fee require a balance on a line of credit or credit card?
A balance is not required on the line of credit or credit card; however automatic payments of the minimum balance must be set up on the account.
For the Platinum package, what accounts qualify under the $25,000 in total deposit and outstanding loan balances?
Combined balances include the average monthly collected balances for personal checking, savings, money markets, CDs, IRAs and HSAs. Outstanding credit balances include personal purpose loans (some indirect not included), home equity loans, home equity lines of credit, Premier Line, home mortgage and credit cards.
For the Platinum package, if the combined balances drop below $25,000 during the statement cycle at any time will they be charged the $20 monthly maintenance fee? (or is it average monthly outstanding balance?)
We will review the actual outstanding credit balance and the deposit account balances three business days prior to the checking account cycle end date and use those balances in the analysis. For credit products we look at the outstanding credit balance owed for both loans and lines. For deposit products we pull the average monthly collected balance for the account.
