U.S. Government Securities are issued by the U.S. Government at various schedules and maturities. These are considered the most creditworthy of all debt instruments since they are backed by the full faith and credit of the U.S. Government. The income from treasury securities is exempt from state and local, but not federal, taxes.
- Bills mature in one year or less
- Notes are available in maturities of one to 10 years
- Bonds are available in maturities of 10 years or longer
